A/C compressor not engaging0l f-150 and my a/c compressor will not engage I've check my refrigerant level, fuse, relay and have done a EOEO test and all of that is fine. The AC compressor pulley is always being turned by either the serpentine belt or a dedicated belt (it's going to depend on the model year and engine type). And in this case compressor is running. A malfunctioning AC clutch can lead to poor AC performance, increased fuel consumption, and even damage to other components of your car's AC system. When I was researching my AC issues, I came across some rough instructions on here. The high side and low side pressure of the AC system would be the SAME (equal) when the compressor is inoperative - not working. You will then see the temp display on your radio begin to increase (at least for me, mine was at -40 degrees).
